Gender Transformative Parenting

Preventing violence.
Empowering parents.
Shaping a more equal world.

Every child deserves to grow up in a home where they are safe, loved, and free to reach their full potential, regardless of gender. Yet deeply rooted social norms often limit children’s opportunities and perpetuate cycles of violence against both women and children. The Gender-Transformative Parenting Programme, developed by ICS SP, goes beyond surface-level change. It challenges harmful gender roles, transforms household dynamics, and equips parents—women and men alike, with the tools to raise children in environments of equality, care, and respect.

This is not just about parenting—it’s about breaking cycles of violence, exploitation, equality and opening doors to possibility for generations to come.

Our Approach

Our programme works directly with families and communities to shift beliefs and behaviours, promote healthy relationships, and empower caregivers to raise children without violence or limits based on gender.

Peer-led parenting groups and home visits that build knowledge, confidence, and caregiving skills

Linkages to essential services, including health, nutrition, child protection, birth registration, and social protection

Economic empowerment for parents and caregivers to strengthen family stability

Active male engagement, encouraging fathers to be equal partners in caregiving and champions for change

Rooted in evidence and delivered through trusted government frontline workers and community networks, this programme builds homes where love, respect, and equality are the norm—not the exception.
